Endoscopy Decontamination Facility

We were approached by MTX Contracts, who specialise in fast-track healthcare building projects, to photograph the new Endoscopy Decontamination Facility at Colchester General Hospital.

Endoscopy is a procedure where organs inside the body are examined using an instrument called an endoscope. An endoscope is a long, thin, flexible tube that has a light and camera at one end, and the images from this are viewed on a monitor screen. Once it has been used, the endoscope will be sterilized in this new facility ready for further use.

By the time we were called upon the unit had already been handed over, so provision was made for us to carry out the photography ‘after hours’ as not to disrupt the routine. We needed to follow the procedures when moving between the segregated dirty and clean areas to avoid any contamination, and this we methodically did.

MTX Contracts were really pleased with the photographs, which resulted in us being asked to photograph further projects for them.
